Si Pitung Park Greens the Wiyoto Wiyono Underpass

The North Jakarta City administration held a soft opening of Si Pitung Park under the Ir Wiyoto Wiyono Toll Road, Jalan Jampea, Koja Urban Village, Koja Sub-district.

All facilities here are free

North Jakarta Mayor, Hendra Hidayat stated, this Si Pitung Park is a follow-up to fulfill the need for public green space for the community.

According to him, the park is completed with various interesting facilities such as a futsal field and a skate park that can be used by the community for sports.

"All facilities here are free, and there will be additional facilities such as toilets, children's play areas, lighting, and CCTVs," he expressed, Tuesday (8/26).

He urged the residents to make good use of Si Pitung Park. Besides for greening, but this park is also a place for interaction, such as socializing and exercising.

"Please take good care of it. Feel free to use the park for various positive activities," he added.

Jakarta Parks and City Forest Agency Head, Muhammad Fajar Sauri, expressed appreciation for the development of Si Pitung Park, which also became one of the instructions from the Governor to utilize the existing toll roads in the Jakarta area.

"This is the second underpass park; previously it was in Slipi. I appreciate the Mayor and the Head of Parks and City Forest Sub-agency for organizing the area under the toll road," he explained.

Fajar wants to add supporting facilities at Si Pitung Park so that residents can feel safer and more comfortable, including adequate lighting and available parking areas.

"This is still a soft launch because there are still additions. I asked Mr. Sub-dept Head to have it completed by next week so it can be officially inaugurated together," he added.

North Jakarta Parks and City Forest Sub-agency Head, Christian Tamora Hutagalung explained, the park was named Si Pitung because of its location near the Si Pitung area, which is very well known in North Jakarta.

"This location was once dark and poorly lit, with many people with social welfare issues (PPKS) and piles of trash. We have landscaped an area of approximately 1,700 square meters here for about four months," he explained.

He added that the chosen park concept is a dry garden because of its location under the highway overpass. If a lot of plants are included in the design, it would be less effective due to the lack of sunlight.

"We have seen every afternoon that many residents and communities utilize the park. We are very pleased because this park is active and beneficial for the residents," he added.
