Normalization Work Underway on Jalan H Samilih Benhil Drainage

Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency is conducting drainage normalization work on Jalan H Sarmilih, RT 08/02, Bendungan Hilir (Benhil), Tanah Abang.

"...normalization of a 150-meter-long water channel ,"

Tanah Abang Sub-district SDA Unit Head, Eli Menawan Sari, said the drainage normalization is being carried out in response to a request from Bendungan Hilir Urban Village Head.

Jalan Cempaka Putih Timur XVII Channel Normalized

"The urban village head requested the normalization of a 150-meter-long water channel due to frequent flooding during heavy rains. The existing channel has long been narrowed and is no longer effective," she said on Wednesday (9/3).

She explained that the normalization work began in August 20, 2025, using U-ditch measuring 40x40 centimeters.

"Progress on Jalan H Sarmilih has currently reached 30 percent and is expected to be completed by the end of September 2025," she mentioned.

Eli expressed optimism that the project will help minimize flooding in the area caused by the narrowed water channel.

"We also urge residents to help maintain the cleaned water channel by not throwing garbage carelessly," she emphasized.

Meanwhile, Bendungan Hilir RT 08/08 Head, Roocky Pancawaka appreciated the prompt action taken by SDA personnel in response to residents' complaints regarding the drainage.

"Residents are grateful for the Central Jakarta SDA Sub-agency's quick response," she shared.
