Pramono Responds Quickly to Blok M Kiosk Rent Increase

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung immediately visited the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) kiosk areas in the Blok M area, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (9/3).

"I personally checked and discussed it with MRT President Director,"

The visit was intended to help resolve complaints from MSMEs regarding excessive kiosk rental charges.

"When several kiosks were closed because they were charged excessive fees, I personally checked and discussed it with MRT President Director, and it is indeed true," said Pramono at the location.

Pramono Prioritizes the Sustainability of MSMEs

To address the issue, Pramono has coordinated with PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) President Director, Tuhiyat, to relocate the MSMEs to other areas managed directly by MRT.

"I have also discussed with MRT President Director since this place is fully managed by MRT, it will be used to relocate any traders willing to use this space," he explained.

Pramono mentioned that PT MRT Jakarta will provide two months of free rent to MSMEs who will occupy the provided space.

He hopes the location will become the best place for MSMEs because it has better and more organized facilities, such as air conditionung and a cleaner environment.

"For two months, we will give them freedom, free of charge, so they are willing to move to this place," he added.

Moreover, Pramono requested that cooperation between PT MRT Jakarta and one of the cooperatives to be terminated if it doesn't comply with previously agreed terms. According to him, the problem of rental fee increases didn't come from PT MRT Jakarta but the cooperative.

He also mentioned that the current kiosk rental rates are between Rp 300,000 and Rp 1.5 million.

"I've requested that any cooperative, whatever its name, that fails to honor the agreement be postponed or terminated altogether," Pramono emphasized.

As for rental fees at the new location, they will be further regulated based on agreements between the vendors and PT MRT Jakarta.

Pramono hoped that this step would offer a solution for MSME vendors in Blok M affected by the rent hikes, especially since the area has grown into one of Jakarta's emerging hubs and a popular destination.

He also reminded that both management and MSME vendors should maintain cleanliness, security, and public comfort in the Blok M area.

Meanwhile, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) President Director, Tuhiyat, explained that the rental fee increase by the cooperative only started within the past month. He said previous rates had remained in line with earlier agreements.

"This sudden increase happened in the past month, while previously, the fees were consistent with the agreed terms," Tuhiyat affirmed.
