Traditional Markets See Increased Trading Activity

Trading activities in traditional markets have returned to normal following recent protests across the city. In North Jakarta, several markets remain bustling with buyers.

"Alhamdulillah, the market is still safe and there are plenty of buyers as usual,"

According to beritajakarta's observation at Rawa Badak Market on Jalan Anggrek, Koja Sub-district, the market appeared busy and orderly. Mis Nur (48), a vegetable vendor, said the market remained crowded despite protesters having gathered in front of the market on Saturday night (8/30).

"Alhamdulillah, the market is still safe and there are plenty of buyers as usual," she expressed, Thursday (9/4).

She also noted that the staple food availability and prices remain stable. No significant price increases have occurred. In fact, the price of shallots has dropped from Rp70,000 to Rp50,000 per kilogram.

Meanwhile, Munasih (62), a Koja resident shopping at Rawa Badak Market, said the market is still safe and prices of basic necessities have not spiked significantly.

"Every time I come here, it's safe. Supplies and prices are all stable," she mentioned.

Similar sentiments were shared by Iwan (33), a vendor at Sunter Podomoro Market in Sunter Agung Urban Village. He noted that the market continued operating as usual following the protests, with most vendors keeping their stalls open.

"The market stayed open, very few stalls were closed, and visitors kept coming. Thank God, North Jakarta remains safe," said Iwan, who sells cooking oil and eggs. He added that the city's stability is also thanks to the #JagaJakarta movement actively promoted by the Jakarta Provincial Government.
