Jakarta's Post-Protest Response Applauded

The Director General of Politics and General Government of the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs, Bahtiar, together with his staff, made a working visit to the Office of the National Unity and Politics Agency of Jakarta Province, Monday (9/8).

This visit was intended to monitor the response after the demonstration and to directly observe the handling practices carried out by the Jakarta Provincial Government.

Bahtiar appreciated the Jakarta Provincial Government's swift action. He considered Jakarta one of the first provinces to provide situation data and take swift action following the demonstrations.

He said the step was worth to try and would be directed to be adopted by other local governments.

"Starting from the establishment of the Jakarta Guard Post, improvements to public facilities, health services for victims, to pro-people programs and public communication, it is said to be in accordance with the direction of the Minister of Home Affairs," he said.

Head of the Jakarta Provincial Agency for the National Unity and Politics, Muhamad Matsani, expressed his appreciation for the visit. He affirmed his commitment to fully support national coordination efforts to ensure security stability and public services following the protests.

"The presence of various parties emphasized the importance of cross-agency coordination in maintaining security stability and ensuring that public services continue to run well after the demonstration recently," he stated.
