Pesanggrahan Water Treatment Plant Inaugurated to Support Clean Water Supply

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, accompanied by Vice Governor Rano Karno, inaugurated the Pesanggrahan Water Treatment Plant (IPA) in South Jakarta, on Tuesday (9/9).

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti, Banten Governor Andra Soni, and South Tangerang Mayor Benyamin Davnie.

In his remarks, Pramono stated that the construction of Pesanggrahan IPA aims to help Jakarta achieve 100 percent clean water coverage.

"As of today, access to clean water in Jakarta has reached 74.24 percent . This is an encouraging milestone, and hopefully, by the end of the year, we can reach 80 percent," he asserted.

Pesanggrahan IPA has a production capacity of 750 liters per second using raw water from Pesanggrahan River. It is designed to serve up to 45,000 household connections across 10 urban villages in South and West Jakarta, namely Srengseng, Cipulir, Pesanggrahan, Bintaro, Petukangan Utara, Petukangan Selatan, Ulujami, Meruya Utara, Meruya Selain, and Joglo.

"Hopefully, clean water access in Jakarta will be fully realized in 2029," he expressed.

Pramono also urged the completion of Karian Reservoir in Banten to further support clean water coverage targets. He believes that the reservoir's completion will play a key role in meeting the needs of clean water in Jakarta and surrpinding regions.

He also expected that the inauguration of Pesanggrahan IPA would improve the quality of life and overall well-being of residents in both Jakarta and Banten.

PAM Jaya President Director, Arief Nasrudin, affirmed the company's ongoing commitment to seeking new sources of clean water to meet Jakarta's needs, one of which is through the development of Pesanggrahan IPA.

On this occasion, Arief also introduced PAM Jaya's latest innovation, Superapps Lapor PAM, a mobile application that allows residents to access a variety of services at their fingertips, including reporting service disruptions, monitoring bills, and receiving real-time information.

"Through this app, customers will be able to submit reports, which will also be integrated with JAKI," he explained.

PAM Jaya also launched the PAM-LAB, a PAM Jaya's mobile laboratory to ensure the safety and quality of water in line with public health standards.

In addition, PAM Jaya signed a partnership woth Perseroda PITS (Pembangunan Investasi Tangerang Selatan), a regional-owned enterprise from South Tangerang, to support the supply and distribution of piped drinking water, particularly in areas near Jakarta-South Tangerang border.

Arief also highlighted the economic impact of the ongoing water pipeline development across Jakarta, which, despite causing some traffic congestion, has contributed positively to employment. PAM Jaya, he noted, has absorbed around 8,000 workers during the construction process.

"Hopefully, once the water starts flowing, the public can feel the tangible benefits in economy, health, and in other aspects that add value to life in Jakarta," he shared.
