Market Revitalization will Be Implemented in Stages

Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno said traditional market will be run in stages.

five markets to be revitalized soon

According to Rano, revitalization needs to be carried out to create a more modern, comfortable, safe and attractive atmosphere for visitors and traders.

He is optimistic that once the revitalization is completed, the issue of unsuitable markets in Jakarta will soon be resolved.

Traditional Markets See Increased Trading Activity

"There are five markets to be revitalized soon, and the biggest is Minggu Market," Rano said, Thursday (9/11).

Rano explained that the revitalization of Minggu Market will not only involve rebuilding the market with more suitable buildings and infrastructure. It is planned that housing to be constructed on the upper level.

He added that Perumda Pasar Jaya has prepared planning and budgeting for the revitalization. It is hoped one market to be revitalized can be completed next year.

"Perumda Pasar Jaya is about to revitalize five traditional markets and hopefully one of them can be completed next year," he stated.
