Pelican Crossing at Cikini Station Receives Positive Responses

Jakarta Provincial Government is running a trial of a pelican crossing at Cikini Station, Central Jakarta. The effort aims to provide safer and more comfortable access for KRL commuter line users.

it's quicker and you can just cross the road

This trial was a response to numerous complaints from passengers who previously had to climb fences or walk long distances to enter and exit the station, as official access was only available on the north and south sides. Despite the fences being raised by PT KAI, the climbing persists and is considered a safety risk.

This pelican crossing trial provides a direct crossing route through the center of the station, specifically to Jalan Pegangsaan Dua, allowing passengers to cross more quickly and orderly. The pelican crossing has been well-received by commuter line users and is a positive solution for passenger accessibility at Cikini Station.

Pelican Crossing Near Cikini Station Enhances Pedestrian Access and Safety

Fazri (33), resident of Cibinong, Bogor, who uses the commuter line from Cikini Station every day, welcomed the trial. According to him, the pelican crossing is quite helpful and effective for KRL users.

"The sidewalks at the edge of the station are narrow and unroofed, so when it rains, you have to walk around and run. Especially during peak hours, passengers pile up. With the pelican crossing, it's quicker and you can just cross the road," he admitted.

Fazri explained that this facility reduces congestion at the north and south sides of the station due to the availability of public transportation and online motorcycle taxis. He assessed the pelican crossing makes the journey from the station to the office more efficient and comfortable.

Wiwid, a Bojong Gede resident, said similar. She also felt the pelican crossing is helpful. Furthermore, the sidewalk across from the station has also been repaired, making it easier for pedestrians to continue their journey.

"Thank God, now we don't have to go around. It's faster and less tiring.

With this facility, she hopes, the flow of people entering and leaving the station will be more orderly and will not cause congestion at the north or south access gates.
