Market Revitalization in Jakarta to Begin Soon to Boost Transactions

Jakarta Provincial Government is about to start the traditional markets renovation in Jakarta.

start the renovations soon

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung said the market revitalization plan has been discussed together with Jakarta Market Traders Cooperative Center.

"We also met with the traders' cooperative, and they also requested renovations or optimization of the existing facilities. I've agreed to that, so we'll start the renovations soon," he said, Tuesday (9/16).

Market Revitalization will Be Implemented in Stages

They also requested that Perumda Pasar Jaya not use social and public facilities in market areas for new businesses. Pramono stated that not all of the 154 markets owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government have been revitalized.

However, a number of markets that have been revitalized and are promoting digital payments have shown an increase in transactions.

"We held a digitalization competition in Santa, Mayestik, and other markets. Of those 12 markets, the transactions rose to 47 percent," he added.

For that reason, Governor Pramono decided to accelerate digitalization in underserved markets, while simultaneously running renovations.

"I have decided that we will digitize markets that have not yet been digitized, and we will also run renovations," he stated.
