Jakarta City Council's Commission E Member, Farah Savira supports the establishment of Betawi Traditional Community Institution to maintain the identity of Jakarta.

The formation of this institution is currently being discussed through a Regional Regulation Draft (Raperda) at the Jakarta Regional Regulation Formation Agency (Bapemperda).
"We strongly support this since special institution is needed for the preservation and protection of cultural heritage, especially in Jakarta," she said, Monday (9/22).

"The important thing is this institution is effective and can provide opportunities for other stakeholders who focus on cultural preservation to participate," sh added.
She also hopes that the institution can bring Betawi culture into international forums, including participating in UNESCO meetings.
In addition, Farah also supported the plan to establish a Betawi Cultural Community which is conceptualized like the Pecalang in Bali. It aims to strengthen unity while maintaining public order.
Previously, Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno emphasizes that the Regional Regulation Draft on the Betawi Traditional Community Institution is mandated by Law Number 2/2024 about the Special Region of Jakarta Province.
In the Regional Regulation Draft, Rano proposed the presence of Cultural Officers whose duty is to reduce potential unrest, including preventing the destruction of public facilities during demonstrations.
