Jakarta City Council Commission E fully supports the education program through the webinar "Prevent Measles from Our Home" initiated by the Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes).
We appreciate the Dinkes' swift action
Commission E Chairman, Muhammad Thamrin assessed, the dissemination of this program needs to be expanded so that measles prevention is more effective.
"Very good, just needs to be expanded further. Also add a direct approach to the residents in the field," he expressed, Friday (9/19).
Central Jakarta Health Sub-agency Increases Measles MonitoringHe appreciates the Dinkes' swift action in implementing the Outbreak Response Immunization (ORI) program to reduce measles cases. From January to September 2025, there were 218 measles cases and 63 rubella cases recorded in Jakarta.
"We appreciate their swift action which quickly responded through ORI in Kapuk, Cengkareng, an area with the highest measles cases. This shows that the local government is truly prompt (quick to act) in protecting the health of residents, especially young children who are the most vulnerable," he explained.
Thamrin mentioned, the 77.22 percent immunization achievement is a good result from the Dinkes' efforts, but it still needs to be improved.
"WHO's minimum standard is 95 percent to prevent transmission through herd immunity. That means we need to step up again so we can reach the target," he added.
He also reminded that the obstacles faced by residents who are not yet aware of the importance of immunization need to be addressed by involving community leaders, religious figures, teachers, PKK cadres, and even neighborhood associations.
"The message about immunization can be directly delivered to residents. Parents also understand that immunization is not just for their children, but to protect the environment from disease. If all parties work together and, God willing, the immunization target can be achieved, and residents will become more accustomed to a clean and healthy lifestyle," he stated.
