Legislator Supports Opening Registration for Pulogadung PIK Rusunawa

The Jakarta government officially opened registration for the Pulogadung Simple Rental Apartment of Small Industrial Clusters (PIK) starting Monday (10/6).

The demand for housing in Jakarta is very high

There are 100 units available for residents living in Jakarta.

The entire registration process is free and self-managed through the SIRUKIM application, without intermediaries. The Government also urges the community to be cautious of brokerage practices and illegal levies.

Jakarta City Council Commission D Member, Ghozi Zulazmi, welcomed the government's efforts to provide decent housing for middle to low-income residents through the Rusunawa and Rusunami programs.

"Indeed, the demand for housing in Jakarta is very high. Hence, we strongly support the registration process for the Rusunawa this time, especially via SIRUKIM application, which makes the process more accountable, open, and transparent," he expressed.

Nevertheless, he mentioned that the number of units available is still limited, so it needs to be openly explained to the public to avoid creating negative perceptions.

"The quota is only 100 units. This needs to be communicated, thus residents understand the process and do not have misconceptions," he explained.

He also encourages the Government to build clear and ongoing communication regarding the registration process, the number of units opened, and the recipient selection mechanism.

"The socialization shouldn't be partial. For instance, today 100 units are opened; the next steps and who has been accepted or not accepted should also be explained," he added.

According to Ghozi, transparency of information will prevent the emergence of favoritism in society.

"This SIRUKIM system is a good system for reducing queues and making the process paperless. However, the verification must be strengthened to ensure that only eligible community members are accepted," he explained.

He added that ideally all residents who do not have decent housing should be facilitated in the Rusunawa, but budget limitations require the Government to conduct selection.

"Housing needs in Jakarta reach hundreds of thousands of units, while only about 38 thousand units have been met Thereby, there must be collaboration with the central government, Perumnas, Housing Ministry, and private sector," he added.

According to him, the partnership between the public and private sectors (public-private partnership) needs to be strengthened to accelerate the fulfillment of housing needs.

"I see that the Governor is also very consistent in accelerating the provision of decent housing in Jakarta," he said.
