Komisi E DPRD DKI Jakarta melakukan kunjungan ke SMAN MH Thamrin

Commission E Encourages Schools in Jakarta to Emulate SMAN MH Thamrin

Jakarta Council (DPRD) Commission E Chairman Muhammad Thamrin encourages all schools in Jakarta to emulate SMAN MH Thamrin, which has successfully created a conducive and bullying-free learning environment.

"Even KJP recipients feel accepted. That's a big achievement,"

Thamrin made the statement after visiting the school with fellow Commission E members to observe its learning system firsthand.

He praised the success of the boarding school, located on Jalan Bambu Wulung, Bambu Apus, East Jakarta, in implementing an effective teaching and learning process for its 263 students.

"I'm pleased to finally visit this highly sought-after school, not only by Jakarta residents but also by students from across Indonesia," said Thamrin on Thursday (9/10).

He encouraged other schools in Jakarta to conduct comparative studies at SMAN Unggulan MH Thamrin so that all schools in Jakarta can foster a more positive and inclusive educational environment.

Thamrin affirmed that the school offers an excellent curriculum, particularly regarding social diversity among its students. He praised the school's achievement in blending KJP (Jakarta Smart Card) recipients with peers from wealthier backgrounds without causing any social gaps.

"We asked the students, and they all said they feel comfortable. There’s no gap; everyone sits together. Even KJP recipients feel accepted. That's a big achievement. Usually, bullying happens between students from different economic backgrounds, but the teachers here have addressed that well," he explained.

Thamrin also applauded the school's approach to character building and fostering togetherness in its boarding environment.

“This is one of the best, because bringing together students from different backgrounds is not easy. They've developed methods and concepts worth praising,” he shared.

Furthermore, Thamrin stated that Commission E supports expanding the number of boarding schools in Jakarta and is ready to allocate the necessary budget.

“We're in agreement. Why limit it to just one school if the demand is high? It comes down to budgeting, and that needs further discussion. Can we establish one or two more? We'll explore the possibilities, concepts, and regulations. If we can have more, why settle for less?” he asserted.

Thamrin assessed that schools like SMAN MH Thamrin have successfully produced high-achieving students, some of whom have been accepted into universities abroad. This success, he added, can help break the cycle of poverty for KJP recipients.

“This school should be a model and should receive more budget support, not just for its development but also to improve the welfare of its teachers. That's what we're aiming for,” he emphasized.
