Here is Jakarta BPBD's Tips for Facing Extreme Weather

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Disaster Agency (BPBD) reports that based on BMKG information, Jakarta and most of Indonesia are currently experiencing quite hot daytime temperatures.

Pay attention to the timing and intensity of sun exposure

This phenomenon is not caused by a heatwave as seen in sub-tropical countries, but still within normal limits even though it feels uncomfortable. This hot is expected to continue until the end of October or early November 2025, depending on the timing of the rainy season in each region.

Jakarta BPBD Acting Head, Isnawa Adji said, the hot air temperature condition is caused by the apparent position of the sun being around the southern part of Indonesia, including Jakarta, resulting in higher than usual solar radiation intensity.

"Aside that, the predominantly clear and cloudy atmospheric conditions also cause direct sunlight radiation to be felt on the surface," he expressed, Friday (10/17).

BPBD urges the public to remain vigilant and take care of their health while engaging in outdoor activities.

"They (residents) are also urged to pay attention to the timing and intensity of sun exposure to avoid health problems caused by the hot weather currently affecting the area," he explained.

Isnawa emphasizes the importance of simple preventive measures to maintain health amidst the hot weather. He urges residents to limit heavy physical activity under direct sunlight, especially from 10 AM to 4 PM.

"Use personal protective equipment such as hats, umbrellas, or clothing that covers the body when outdoors. Residents are also told to increase their intake of water to prevent dehydration and not to burn trash carelessly," he explained.

So, residents must continue to follow official information from BMKG and related agencies to anticipate the potential impacts caused by these extreme weather conditions.
