Optimizing Cheap Markets Ensures Food Access for Residents

Perumda Dharma Jaya continues to optimize the implementation of cheap markets in Jakarta to ensure residents have access to affordable food.

We will continue the program

It was recorded that Dharma Jaya had held 808 cheap market activities until the third quarter of 2025. This number has exceeded the initial target of 695 cheap markets, and is even projected to reach 975 cheap markets.

Director of Perumda Dharma Jaya, Raditya Endra Budiman, said this achievement shows the high level of public interest and need for food at affordable prices.

"We will continue the program since public's enthusiasm is high and the need is great. We are optimistic to reach 900 cheap market activities," he said, Wednesday (10/29).

One of the main factors for this success is the price which is cheaper than the market price and the variety of products that suit household needs, such as meat and eggs which are the favorites of buyers.

"Some products are sold below market price," he added.

He explained that Dharma Jaya will expand its fleet of mobile vans from eight to 16 units to expand its service. These vans operate daily, visiting various urban village, RPTRA, apartment buildings, and public facilities in Jakarta.

Dharma Jaya is also developing a 'food hub' system in collaboration with Perumda Pasar Jaya, so that people can buy cheap staple foods every day without having to wait for their turn at the mobile market.

"Cheap market activities also contribute to suppressing the rate of inflation in Jakarta," he continued.

Meanwhile, Head of Jakarta Food Security, Marine and Agriculture (KPKP) Agency, Hasudungan Sidabalok appreciates and supports Perumda Dharma Jaya in expanding the food access.

"The increase in the number of cheap markets exceeding the target demonstrates good synergy between food BUMDs and local governments in maintaining price stability," he stated.

He believes that cross-regional collaboration with urban village and public facilities is key to ensuring equitable access to affordable food.

"We ensure our full support for this good program to continue," he said.
