Residents Flock to Cheap Staple Food Held in Susukan Urban Village

Kelapa Gading District Secretary, Suci Cyntia Pola Putri, said this activity represents government support in maintaining the stability of basic food prices and controlling inflation. Furthermore, it ensures that people, especially those with low incomes, have access to basic necessities at affordable prices.

"We appreciate this collaboration with Bulog. Residents can obtain quality staple foods at more affordable prices through this cheap market," she said, Tuesday (11/4).

She added that various food items were sold, including 150 kilograms of 5 kilograms of rice, 30 liters of one-liter cooking oil, and five bottles of 800 milliliters of oil.

According to her, the cheap market received a positive response from residents who came from morning until noon because the selling prices were cheaper than the market.

"This activity will continue in each urban village. Prices of basic necessities tend to increase towards the end of the year. Hopefully, this will ease the burden on the residents," she hoped.

Meanwhile, Aliya (46), a local resident, admitted happy with this program since it helps her getting basic necessities in affordable price.

"The price is below the market. I bought two liters of cooking oil and rice in under Rp 100,000," she admitted.
