City Government Bans Roller Skates on Main Roads

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, emphasized the ban on skating with roller skates on busy motor vehicle roads.

Roller skates or anything else are not allowed to do activities on main roads

Besides harming oneself, this action can also endanger other drivers.

"Roller skates or anything else are not allowed to do activities on main roads like that," he expressed, Friday (11/14).

Such statement was made regarding the activity of a roller skater whose video went viral of them gliding through traffic on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Central Jakarta.

He emphasized that the Jakarta government will take action against skateboarders if they carry out their activities on the streets again.

"I ask that if it is done again, we will take action regarding it," he asserted.

As information, the police are currently investigating and seeking the perpetrators using CCTV footage and witness statements.

This act potentially violates Articles 299 and 122 of Law Number 22/2009 on Road Traffic and Transportation (LLAJ), which stipulate a maximum imprisonment of 15 days or a fine by Rp 100,000.
