This is an optimization of preventive efforts

South Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar said, the mass dredging and cleaning are continuously conducted to minimize flood-prone areas.

"This is an optimization of preventive efforts through dredging of micro and macro channels, reservoirs, small dams, and the construction of vertical drainage," he expressed, Monday (11/24).

Anticipating Extreme Weather, Jakarta Optimizes Flood Control Infrastructure

South Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Santo stated, dredging was conducted, as there was already siltation caused by mud and trash up to about 1.5 meters.

"We dredge them to facilitate the flow of water so that the water flows smoothly," he explained.

Even, two excavators and six dump trucks were also deployed to the location.

"We start to send 500 personnel in the cleanup action in a bid to handle flooding," he added.

To optimize it, the same action was also spotted on Jalan Aren and Jalan Durian.

"Hopefully, it can minimize flooding when it rains," he closed.
