BPBD Strengthens Community Readiness for Extreme Weather

The public and shipping operators, particularly in the Jakarta area, are urged to increase their vigilance and anticipate any potential impacts.

"For #SobatMaritim who live in areas prone to strong winds, be careful," agency warned, as quoted from the BMKG Priok social media page.

Residents are urged to check their surroundings and secure items outside. They are also advised to avoid vulnerable areas such as under trees or billboards during windy weather.

Strong winds of 20-25 knots, or around 37-46 km/h, equivalent to a Beaufort Scale 5-6, are expected in Jakarta Bay and the Seribu Islands. Therefore, fishermen are advised to maintain a safe distance between their vessels to avoid damage from friction.

Meanwhile, the impacts of strong winds on land that need to be watched out for include fallen trees, collapsed billboards or poles, and damage to non-permanent buildings in coastal areas that are easily destroyed by the wind.

The public is advised to always monitor the latest information from BMKG to find out the latest conditions.
