Residents Urged to Protect the Environment to Prevent Flooding

Jakarta City Council Commission D Member, Nabilah Aboe Bakar Alhabsyi, encourages residents to actively participate in supporting the Jakarta government overcome flood issues.

Flood management requires strong collaboration

She emphasized that community awareness and discipline are important factors in environmental preservation and are crucial in flood prevention.

She urges the community should maintain environmental cleanliness, not litter randomly, avoid building structures along riverbanks, and support government programs for flood control.

"Flood management requires strong collaboration between the government and the community," she asserted, Wednesday (11/26).

Further, she supports the Jakarta South City administration's efforts to dredge the river to prevent flooding.

She considered that step as a form of the local government's seriousness in reducing flood risk in the southern Jakarta area, which is geographically traversed by large rivers such as the Ciliwung River.

"Efforts to dredge and normalize the river flow are very necessary. This needs support from the community," she stated.
