Legislators Appreciate City Government's Steps to Strengthen Prevention of Violence Against Children and Women

Jakarta City Council's Commission E Member, Dina Masyusin appreciated Jakarta Provincial Government's step in strengthening the prevention and handling of violence against women and children through a series of 16 Days of Anti-Violence Campaigns.

This collaboration is essential

She said that the Jakarta Provincial Government's commitment is provided with the availability of various free and collaborative complaint channels, such as the 24-hour PPPA Hotline (0813-1761-7622), the 112 Call Center, 44 SAPA Posts at RPTRA, and the PUSPA website. All of these services are presented as a form of government presence in providing protection for the community from various forms of violence.

She added that collaboration between the Jakarta Provincial Government and religious institutions and community leaders is crucial to ensure that information regarding service channels reaches all levels of society.

City Provides Various Channels for Reporting Violence Against Women and Children

"This collaboration is essential. The Jakarta Provincial Government must work with all elements of society to disseminate information about complaint channels and protection services. This is part of the government's commitment, both central and regional, to preventing and addressing violence against women and children, which in fact still occurs in society," she said, Thursday (11/27).

According to her, the Jakarta City Council also has a role in strengthening these efforts. Commission E will ensure that socialization and campaign programs continue to be expanded through adequate budget support in every discussion with the PPAPP Agency and relevant regional government agencies.

"We will ask that socialization and campaign programs be included more extensively in future budget preparation to reach the community at the lowest level," she added.

Her party will push for a revision of the Regional Regulation on the Protection of Women and Children, which is considered to need to be updated to align with current developments and national policies.

"We will ask the Governor to synergize all regional government agencies to expand this campaign. Information should also be available at urban village and district offices, neighborhood association (RT/RW) secretariats, public spaces such as markets and malls, and disseminated through the Jakarta Provincial Government's digital platforms and social media," she explained.

Dina stated that these efforts are important so that the public gets correct information about support channels and understands the legal consequences for perpetrators of violence.
