Personnel Continue Efforts to Accelerate Tidal Flood Handling

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) recorded that one road segment is still affected by tidal flooding, namely on Jalan RE Martadinata, specifically in front of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Papanggo Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-district, until 9 AM on Friday (12/5).

We continuously check the storm drains

This flood, with 35 centimeters high, was caused by the surge of high tide water overflowing into the mainland area.

Jakarta BPBD Head, Isnawa Adji said, the personnel are still in the field and are working to quickly minimize the flood so it does not disrupt residents' activities and traffic flow.

500 Blue Troop Personnel Deployed to Tidal Flood-Prone Areas

According to him, Jakarta BPBD, together with other regional devices, is implementing accelerated handling efforts by deploying personnel. Mobile pumps have also been on standby to expedite flood pumping.

"We continuously check the storm drains to smoothen the flow of water in the drainage. Basic needs support for survivors is also prepared if needed," he explained.

Based on information from the BMKG Tanjung Priok Maritime Class I Meteorological Station, the maximum tide period coinciding with the Full Moon and Perigee (Supermoon) from December 1 to 10, 2025, continues to increase the potential for flooding in the northern coastal area of Jakarta. This astronomical phenomenon causes the sea level to rise and results in flooding in several locations.

The BPBD urges the public to remain vigilant during this high tide period, especially for residents working around the North Jakarta coast area.

Residents can immediately report emergency situations, flooding, or other potential hazards through the Jakarta Siaga 112 service, which operates 24 hours a day at no charge.
