22 Bodies of Fire Incident Victim in Cempaka Baru Evacuated

As many as 22 bodies of fire incident victims on Jalan Letjen Suprapto RT 01/02, Cempaka Baru Urban Village, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, have been evacuated, Tuesday (12/9).

15 women and seven men

According to Beritajakarta's monitoring, one victim trapped on the sixth floor was successfully rescued by Fire Handling and Rescue personnel at around 4:45 PM. As of 5:00 PM, a total of 22 victims had been found.

Electrical Short Triggers Fire Incident in Cempaka Baru

Head of Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Agency, Bayu Megantara said his side received the incident report at 12:43. The first fleet arrived at the scene seven minutes later.

"The fire was first spotted on the ground floor of a shophouse used for charging drone batteries. The fire was extinguished around 1:40 PM," he said.

He added that his side deployed 30 firetrucks with one bronto skylift to evacuate the victims from the sixth floor.

"22 bodies, consisting of 15 women and seven men, were evacuated from the six-story burning shophouse. They died from oxygen deprivation," he added.

The agency personnel also successfully evacuated 19 staff from the rooftop.

"Several people suffered minor injuries from broken glass when officers evacuated them using the Bronto Skylift," he stated.
