Mural Painting on Toll Pillars Launched by Pramono, Breaks MURI Record

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung opened the mural painting event beneath the Inner City Toll Road and Becakayu Toll Road in Cipinang, East Jakarta, on Thursday (12/11).

"...beautification will cover 10 and 8 kilometers,"

This event successfully broke the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) record for the most and longest mural paintings on toll road pillars, covering 1,326 pillars along 18 kilometers.

Pramono expressed his gratitude and happiness over this MURI achievement.

Mural Painting Beautifies Jalan Yos Sudarso

"This morning, we already set a MURI record. This would not have been possible without all of you. It was mentioned that beautification will cover 10 and 8 kilometers, involving urban villages where these facilities are located," said Pramono.

This event is a collaboration between East Jakarta Government, PT KKDM, and PT CMNP. Beneath the Becakayu Toll Road, 812 pillars stretching 10 kilometers will be decorated with murals and landscaping by 65 urban villages in East Jakarta. Meanwhile, PT CMNP will independently paint 514 pillars along 8 kilometers beneath the Inner City Toll Road.

"Hopefully this will make East Jakarta safer, more comfortable, more attractive, and importantly, set an example for other regions," he added.

Pramono appreciated the creative individuals involved in the event for helping to make the space under the toll roads more organized and attractive. He also thanked the East Jakarta Mayor for initiating the activity.

He further urged relevant agencies to build vertical gardens on several toll road pillars.

"At the same time, this creates an increasingly open space for expression in Jakarta. Anyone can join," he conveyed.

On the other hand, East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin informed that beautification is being carried out under the Becakayu Toll Road area, Jalan Laksamana Malahayati, and under the Inner City Toll Road on Jalan DI Panjaitan.

"In total, it covers 18 kilometers in the East Jakarta Administrative City area, in collaboration with PT KKDM and PT CMNP," he stated.

The event will run for seven days until December 18, 2025. He hopes this activity will raise public awareness in maintaining Jakarta's cleanliness and beauty.
