Food Checks Ramped Up for Christmas and New Year

The Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Agency (PPKUKM) has initiated integrated supervision across five administrative cities ahead of Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 celebrations.

Stocks of basic necessities are secure

This intensive supervision, conducted from December 15 to 19, 2025, focus on food and beverage products (including basic and essential commodities), gift parcels and hampers, as well as Measuring, Dosing, and Weighing Equipment (UTTP).

This initiative represents a synergy and collaboration with Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Agency (KPKP), Satpol PP, Regional Secretariat's Bureau of Economy and Finance, and Jakarta Center for Drug and Food Control (BBPOM).

City Govt Strengthens Food Task Force Ahead of Christmas and New Year

Jakarta PPKUKM Agency Head, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, stated this integrated supervision is a concrete manifestation of the Jakarta government's full commitment to consumer protection.

Leading up to the Christmas and New Year festivities, the Jakarta government ensures that every circulating food and beverage product is safe for consumption, not expired, and crucially, that consumers receive their rights.

"We also guarantee the accuracy of weighing instruments to prevent financial loss for the public, while simultaneously ensuring that stocks of basic necessities are secure and distribution runs smoothly," she said, Tuesday (12/16).

She noted that these integrated inspections target a number of superstores and major retail markets in each administrative city, including GrandLucky Superstore (SCBD, South Jakarta), Hero (Gondangdia, Central Jakarta), Hari-Hari (Buaran, East Jakarta), Market City (Pluit Karang, North Jakarta), and The FoodHall (Lippo Mall Puri, West Jakarta).

She added that through the synergy between the PPKUKM Agency and all related agencies, the Jakarta government is committed to ensuring the public can celebrate Christmas and New Year safely, comfortably, and with assurance.

"Thus, the public need not worry about the quality, safety, and stock of food they consume," she concluded.
