Light Up Your Night at Setu Babakan’s Cultural Festival!

The Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, came alive with a dazzling Festival of Lights and various traditional performances during the Gebyar Seni Budaya festivities.

It seems exciting

Setu Babakan Education and Information Unit Head, Farah Aini Astuti said, the festival stands as a celebration of Betawi artistic traditions and a dedicated measure to conserve the cultural heritage assets located in the Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village.

"We also present an art exhibition alongside an MSME bazaar featuring a variety of Betawi-style cuisine, fashion, and souvenir crafts," she expressed, Friday (12/19).

Pramono Officially Opens Jakarta Festive Wonders 2025 for Year-End Discount Party

She explained, this 2025 edition, marking the fourth installment of the event, offers a departure from previous formats. A standout innovation this year is the inclusion of a Festival of Lights, showcasing video mapping or holographic performances at 11 specific points.

"These displays highlight Betawi culture—from traditional motifs to holographic dances—conveying local heritage through a blend of state-of-the-art technology and innovation," she explained.

Scheduled for December 18 to 21, 2025, from 2 PM to 10 PM, the event brings together 35 art groups. Visitors can enjoy diverse performances such as Betawi traditional dance, Lenong (traditional Betawi theater), Gambang Kromong (traditional Betawi music), Ondel-ondel puppet dance, and Tanjidor (traditional Betawi orchestra).

She added this event also aligns with Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung's vision to transform Jakarta into a cultured global city

"We hope the public is entertained and grows to love Betawi culture even more, particularly here in South Jakarta, and especially among the youth," she hoped.

One visitor, Risna, shared her excitement over the diverse array of cultural arts on display at Setu Babakan.

"I am waiting for the Festival of Lights. It seems exciting, especially since this is the first time it is being held here," she stated.
