Homecoming Flow at Kampung Rambutan Terminal Increases

Ahead of Christmas 2025, the homecoming flow at Kampung Rambutan, East Jakarta is increasing. Hundreds of homecoming travelers were seen crowding the terminal area as the long school holidays began.

According to the bus terminal data, as many as 477 passengers were departed by using 50 buses from 6 AM to 2 PM. The number is predicted to increase tonight.

Head of Kampung Rambutan Bus Terminal, Revi Zulkarnain said travelers heading to West Sumatra, such as Padang and Solok, dominated departures between 9 AM to 1:30 PM.

"The number of travelers returning to West Sumatra is quite high. Besides taking advantage of the long holiday, many also want to visit family members affected by natural disasters," he said, Monday (12/22).

The surge in passengers during the Christmas and New Year holidays has been occurring since December 19, 2025. While on normal days the number of passengers is around 450-500 people per day, now it can reach 800 passengers.

"The homecoming peak is predicted to occur on D-2 and D-1 of Christmas, namely December 23-24, 2025," he added.

Meanwhile, Kampung Rambutan Terminal Controller, Mulyono, detailed passenger numbers over the past few days. On December 19, 720 passengers were recorded departing on 67 buses.

Then, on December 20, it increased to 997 passengers using 99 buses, and on December 21, 813 passengers departed using 83 buses.

"It is predicted to increase tomorrow and the day after tomorrow," he stated.

He continued that to maintain security, the terminal has operated an Integrated Security Post since December 20, 2025, involving elements of the Army-Police and the Transportation Agency.

"Health posts are also on standby to ensure that all bus drivers are in good health, including urine tests to prevent drug abuse," he said.
