According to Corporate Secretary Division Head Rendy Primartantyo, Jakarta’s subway is opening its doors to everyone this New Year’s. PT MRT Jakarta confirmed Thursday that its symbolic one-rupiah fare is not limited to frequent riders but is available to first-time users as well. Passengers can pay through the usual official digital and card-based platforms.

"Our aim is to make sure every resident, regardless of their background, can use the MRT easily as we celebrate the transition into 2026,” he explained, Thursday (12/31).

He noted that accepted payment methods include bank-issued electronic money cards produced in 2019 or later, Multi-Trip Cards (KMT), and JakLingko cards. To utilize the service, passengers must maintain a minimum balance by Rp 1 on their respective cards.

Further, passengers can utilize QR-based tickets through the MyMRTJ mobile application or physical QR tickets purchased at MyMRTJ Lite kiosks available at all MRT Jakarta stations.

This promotional Rp1 fare also extends to MyMRTJ app users linked to various digital payment platforms, including AstraPay, i.saku, GoPay, and blu BCA, as well as Mastercard credit cards. Additionally, pay-later services such as Kredivo and Yup are eligible for the discount, provided the user has a sufficient balance or credit limit.

To enjoy the promotional rate via allride or QRIS Tap, commuters must ensure their accounts have a minimum balance of at least Rp 14,000.

For those preferring physical kiosks, MyMRTJ Lite Ticket Vending Machines at all stations will sell the Rp 1 tickets. These machines accept QRIS, debit, and credit cards, though officials noted that a Rp 2,000 service fee applies to each kiosk transaction.

"Hopefully, this policy encourages the public to shift to public transit and helps reduce traffic congestion during the New Year’s Eve festivities in Jakarta," he hoped.
