120 Joint Personnel Carry Out Cleanup in Pesanggrahan

A total of 120 joint personnel carried out a cleanup in RW 02 Pesanggrahan Urban Village and RW 09 Bintaro Urban Village, Pesanggrahan Sub-district, South Jakarta.

"The two targeted areas are both prone to flooding,"

Pesanggrahan Sub-district Head, Angga Saputra, said the cleanup effort was a preventive measure to reduce the risk of flooding, especially during heavy rainfall.

"The two targeted areas are both prone to flooding and are located opposite each other," he informed on Tuesday (1/6).

Angga explained that the effort involved joint personnel from Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU), Environment Sub-agency, Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency, Bina Marga Sub-agency, environmental volunteers, and local neighborhood officials.

He mentioned that the cleanup focused on removing waste and sediment from clogged water channels.

"In addition to this cleanup, we will formulate more comprehensive measures to tackle flooding and waste issues in this area," he asserted.

He also encouraged Pesanggrahan and Bintaro residents to keep their environment clean by managing waste in ways that generate economic benefits.

"We'll also prepare special strategies to take action against illegal waste dumping," he stated.

Meanwhile, RW 02 Head, Ade Irwansyah, said the cleanup was driven by growing community concern over illegal dumping along roads and drainage channels.

"Following directions from the sub-district and urban village heads, environmental monitoring must be intensified. It's disappointing to still find piles of trash, especially since residents here regularly do cleanups and manage their waste,"he emphasized.
