Jakarta Government Prepares Anticipatory Measures to Prevent Superflu

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung gave special instructions for the Head of Jakarta Health Agency, Ani Ruspitawati, to prepare anticipation in facing Influenza A (H3N2) subclaude K or superflu threat.

Although there have been no reported cases in Jakarta up to now, Pramono confirmed that the Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared anticipatory measures.

"I ask the health agency to prepare this. There is still no case here in Jakarta, but we must prepare," he said, Tuesday (1/6).

No Superflu Cases in Jakarta, Residents Urged to Stay Vigilant

Pramono also admitted to having established intensive communication with the Indonesian Minister of Health to ensure that mitigation measures in Jakarta are in line with the central government.

"We have taken precautions. I summoned the health agency head to discuss this," he added.

As for information, the H3N2 subclade K variant has previously triggered a surge in cases in several countries such as Japan, Canada, and the United States.

In Indonesia, the Ministry of Health has recorded at least 62 identified cases. The Ministry of Health has also confirmed that superflu is not as deadly as COVID-19.
