Risk-Prone Trees on Jalan Bangka Raya Pruned

South Jakarta City Parks and Forestry (Tamhut) Sub-agency personnel were deployed to prune risk-prone trees along Jalan Bangka Raya, Pela Mampang Urban Village, Mampang Prapatan Sub-district.

"...we're taking proactive measures to prevent potential tree falls,"

South Jakarta Tamhut Field Coordinator, Dadang Hermanto, said that 60 personnel and supporting equipment were mobilized for pruning trees on Jalan Bangka Raya.

Fallen Trees on Kelapa Island Evacuated

"We pruned angsana trees with an average height of over seven meters," he said on Wednesday (1/14).

Dadang explained that wet tree surfaces due to rain became one of the challenges during the pruning process, requiring more time as extra caution was needed to ensure worker safety.

"Given the ongoing rainy season and frequent strong winds, we're taking proactive measures to prevent potential tree falls. This effort will be conducted intensively and on a large scale," he noted.

Meanwhile, Pela Mampang Urban Village Head, Teuku Aji Mahbrurry, added that the pruning was also necessary as many branches had drooped low, posing a danger to road users.

"We know heavy rain and strong winds often hit Jakarta. We're coordinating with relevant parties to prevent any unwanted incidents, including fallen trees," he asserted.

According to him, 15 Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU) personnel were also deployed to assist Tamhut personnel, especially in clearing fallen branches and debris from roads and sidewalks.

"We also urge residents to report any cracked or leaning trees in their areas to the local government or through the JAKI app," he emphasized.
