Transportation Agency Confirms No Road Closures During Monorail Pillar Removal

Jakarta Transportation Agency has ensured that public mobility along Jalan HR Rasuna Said will remain unaffected during the dismantling of the abandoned monorail pillars.

"...there will be no road closures,"

Jakarta Transportation Agency Head, Syafrin Liputo, emphasized that there will be no closure of the main road in the area.

"So, the traffic management plan is, firstly, there will be no road closures," mentioned Syafrin on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Wednesday (1/14).

Jalan HR Rasuna Said Set for Revamp Alongside Monorail Pillar Removal

According to him, the dismantling will take place nightly from 11 PM to 5 AM to ease traffic, with one pillar removed per night. A total of 109 abandoned monorail pillars will be dismantled as part of the area's restructuring.

As for the slow lane, partial closures will be implemented gradually based on the dismantling progress.

"For example, if we're closing a particular segment, we'll block the end of that section and divert vehicles from the fast lane into the slow lane via the nearby opening. This setup will continue until the Gatot Subroto intersection," he shared.

Syafrin also urged motorists passing through the area to keep their vehicles moving and avoid stopping, which could disrupt the flow of traffic.

"We urge drivers not to stop their vehicles during the work. Keep moving so that traffic behind continues to flow smoothly," he added.

Based on the agency's assessment, removing the divider and adding an extra fast lane after dismantling the pillars will significantly improve road performance.

"With the addition of a fast lane and the removal of the median, we estimate around an 18% improvement in road network performance along Rasuna Said," Syafrin noted.

To ensure smooth traffic during the dismantling work, the Transportation Agency and Satpol PP will each deploy around 15 personnel to manage the traffic flow.

"Each night during the start of operations, personnel will be on-site to regulate traffic," he concluded.
