Fire Incident at Tofu Factory in Petukangan Utara Extinguished

As many as 70 personnel of South Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency extinguished fire that burned a tofu factory on Jalan Masjid Darul Falah, RT 05/10, Petukangan Utara, Pesanggrahan District.

Head of the Sub-agency, Asril Rizal said the incident was reported at 12:28 AM when the fire already grew bigger.

"Then we deployed 16 firetrucks with 70 personnel to the scene," he said, Wednesday (1/21).

He explained that the tofu factory that caught fire was a semi-permanent structure covering an area of ​​approximately 700 square meters. Firefighters successfully localized the fire at 1:38 AM and continued the cooling process.

"The fire extinguishing process was completed at 2:10 AM. There were no fatalities. The preliminary suspicion is that the fire was caused by a gas leak during cooking," he explained.

Meanwhile, Fidya, a local resident, stated the fire originated from one of the stoves used for frying tofu. However, the fire suddenly grew larger and became difficult to control.

"We asked our neighbors for help and tried to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher, but it failed. Finally, we contacted the sub-agency officers," she stated.

She appreciated the swift action of officers from the Sub-agency who immediately arrived at the location, so that the fire did not spread to other buildings.
