187 Tons of Waste Cleared from Jalan Kembangan Baru

West Jakarta Environment (LH) Sub-agency carried out post-flood waste cleanup along Jalan Kembangan Baru, Kembangan Sub-district, removing a total of 187 tons of waste.

"...we immediately deploy dozens of personnel along with vehicles to handle waste at the location,"

West Jakarta LH Sub-agency Head Achmad Hariadi said the cleanup was conducted after floodwater caused by the overflow of the Mookervart River receded some time ago.

"This morning, we immediately deploy dozens of personnel along with vehicles to handle waste at the location," he informed on Monday (1/26).

Five large garbage trucks, two dump trucks, and two pickup vehicles were deployed to support the cleanup effort.

The collected waste, he added, ranged from plastic waste to household items such as mattresses, wardrobes, lamps, sofas, tables, shelves, and refrigerator stands.

"All deployed vehicles are targeted to remove around 187 tons of waste from residential areas within eight working hours today," he explained.

Meanwhile, a local resident, Gino (60), said the waste had been carried into residential areas after flooding occurred last Friday.

"Residents and officers worked together yesterday to clean up and collect the waste along the road while waiting for it to be transported," he said.

Gino thanked all parties involved in the response efforts during the flooding and after the water receded.

"Thankfully, the waste has now been transported, so it no longer causes odors and disrupts residents' activities," he added.
