Revitalisasi Ragunan Diminta Tetap Terjangkau untuk Warga

Ragunan Zoo Revitalization Must Maintain Affordable Access

Jakarta City Council Commission D Chairwoman, Yuke Yurike announced that the Ragunan Zoo revitalization plan has moved from the planning phase into the construction stage.

Most importantly, ticket prices must remain affordable

She cautioned that the renovation must not compromise the zoo's primary function as an affordable and educational recreational space for the public.

"Most importantly, ticket prices must remain affordable so that Ragunan Zoo can be enjoyed by all Jakartans, from low-income families to the wealthy," she stated, Tuesday (1/27).

Commission D Calls for Heightened Extreme Weather Readiness

According to her, the zoo’s impressive turnout shows how much residents value low-cost education and leisure.

Ragunan Zoo’s ability to draw over four million visitors a year is a direct result of its reputation as a budget-friendly destination for the masses.

"It is essentially the only affordable public amusement area remaining. Besides conservation, it provides expansive green space where families can gather for picnics and see animal exhibits without a heavy financial burden," she explained.

Yurike believes the zoo’s identity as a massive urban forest is a major draw for the public. Still, she stressed that the city must prioritize modernizing amenities and infrastructure to ensure visitor comfort.

"The evaluation must focus on what specific improvements are necessary, particularly regarding transit and on-site facilities. Being situated on the southern edge of the city, accessibility remains a challenge for those living further away, requiring extra effort to reach the site," she stated.
