The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has once again temporarily suspended fast boat services from Muara Angke Port in North Jakarta to Seribu Islands.
We're still unable to restart fast boat operations
The suspension was triggered by unfavorable weather conditions that pose a risk to maritime safety.
Water Transportation Management Unit (UPAP) Head, Muhamad Wildan Anwar stated that fast boat services have been suspended since Sunday (1/25), through Tuesday (1/27). As of Wednesday (1/28), operations remain halted.
Severe Weather Grounds Express Boat Services to Seribu Islands"We're still unable to restart fast boat operations from Muara Angke today because the weather has not improved," he expressed, Wednesday (1/28).
Citing data from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) noted that winds in the region are clocking in at up to 15 knots, with waves swelling as high as 8 feet. Such conditions pose a direct threat to maritime safety.
Beyond the rough seas, the boats are also waiting on the 'green light' from the Port Authority (KSOP). The agency has not yet granted sailing permits, which serve as a mandatory prerequisite for all commercial vessels before they can return to their routes.
"Boat operations will resume once weather conditions are deemed safe. The latest updates regarding water transportation services can be monitored through the Transportation Agency’s official channels," he explained,
Jakarta UPAP Head, Mulyadi added, the service shutdown covers all four major lines to South and North Seribu Islands.
He is calling on travelers to keep an eye on official sailing updates and to put safety first until the weather permits a safe return to sea.
"For those who have already bought tickets, there is no cause for concern. All costs will be reimbursed according to our terms and the initial purchase method. Our primary focus continues to be the safety of our passengers," he stated.
