Ahok Shares Idea with His Predecessor

Jakarta Governor Basuki T. Purnama (Ahok) oftens do brainstorm and share ideas with former Jakarta governors Sutiyoso and Fauzi Bowo. Ahok claimed that he needs suggestion from his predecessor.

Ahok admitted that he ever took Fauzi Bowo, who served as governor during 2007-2012 periods, breakfast in a hotel in Central Jakarta. Both of them shared about the experience in leading the capital.

As a senior, Fauzi Bowo that currently serving as Indonesian Ambassador for Germany gave him many suggestions. However, there is a suggestion that Ahok difficult to do. Ahok needs to maintain City relationship with “Sister City” cities. But instead he admitted very hard to do it.

“I have a bit problem to fulfill his request to visit Sister City. I have a lot of things to do here, a bit lazy to go abroad,” he said, on the sideline of halal bi halal (post-Ramadhan gathering) with Civil Servant pensioner at City Hall, Thursday (7/30).

Ahok confessed during his tenure, he has once to go abroad when he attended Asian Games in Seoul, South Korea. The only one reason he wanted to go there because Jakarta is the next host of the event.

“That was Asian Games. As a Governor, I must attend the Asian Games opening and closing ceremony. Considering Jakarta is the next host of 2018 Asian Games,” he added.

According to him, he has been invited by several cities in Sister City group. The last invitation is from Mayor of Rotterdam Ahmed Aboutaleb who has visited Jakarta twice.

“I were forced to go to Rotterdam, but has no idea when it will happen,” he told.

Meanwhile, he also told Fauzi Bowo about the official reshuffle that Bowo often did it. “I told him which official who was replaced or inaugurated. "Surprisingly, he still remember every single officials. Actually, he did not pick the wrong person,” Ahok disclosed.
