As many as 18 illegal buildings stood atop the Kalibaru Riverbank, Rawabunga Urban Village, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, demolished on Monday (8/3) . The demolition is done because those buildings have disturbed public order and officer who wants to clean up the river.

Rawabunga Urban Village Head, Agustinah said although the owner had been given a warning letter three times, but it was ignored. Hence, the officers had to demolish the buildings. Most buildings are generally used as cigarette kiosk, coffee shops, phone voucher kiosks and used goods warehouse.

The demolition that targeted at RW 7 and RW 8 was involved 70 joint officers from urban village and sub-district.
Agustinah appealed the citizens not to re-construct building on the riverbank. If not, the building will be demolished again.
