2,700 Illegal Buildings Around Cakung Drain River will Be Torn Down

As an anticipation way to prevent flood in North Jakarta, as many as 2,700 illegal buildings standing on the edge of Cakung Drain River will be demolished. The demolishment is done to smoothen the normalization project.

Relaying on beritajakarta.com observations, the real condition around Cakung Drain River is crowded by illegal buildings. Besides narrowing the river, these buildings also caused pile of trash and slums.

102 Buildings in Kalimalang Dismantled

Cilincing Sub-District Head, Wawan Budi Rohman conveyed his side has inventoried the 2,700 buildings stood atop the Cakung Drain River in Cilincing Urban Village, Semper Timur, Rorotan areas.

“ We had done socialization to the building owners to demolish their own building by themselves ," Thursday (7/30).

While for buildings used as a business place, were also planned to be demolished. The owners had been relocated to the Cilincing Fish Auction Site (TPI). "So far, we have demolished 36 buildings used as business place," he exclaimed.
