January-June, 1,244 Trees in West Jakarta Pruned

From January-June 2015, as many as 1,244 trees in West Jakarta were pruned in a bid to anticipate fallen trees by wind and other constraints.

The pruning was done due to leafy branches, have too high trunk and porous, and blocking electricity wires

Head of Green Lanes Section for West Jakarta Parks and Cemetery Sub-Department, Wayan Rejiatnaya said that the tree pruning is a follow up of citizens' report and officers' initiative.

Of the 1,244 trees, he details, 100 of them are pruned in January, 297 trees in February, 294 trees in March, 153 trees in April, 241 trees in May, and 189 trees in June.

"The pruning was done due to leafy branches, have too high trunk and porous, and blocking electricity wires. The condition is prone to fallen tree and its branch can be broken during rainy accompanied by strong winds," told Rejiatnaya, Monday (8/3). 

Similar thing is also done in Kota Tua area, Taman Sari, precisely along Jalan Cengkeh, Kunir and Kali Besar Timur.
