North Jakarta Anticipates Domestic Violence in Muara Baru Flat

To anticipate domestic violence cases (KDRT), North Jakarta Administration keeps improving coordination and supervision towards mothers and children in Muara Baru flat, Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

Living in the flat is like social, tolerance should be higher than in their own house

Head of Section of Women's Empowerment for North Jakarta Administration, Tuty Kusnaeny disclosed, the coordination and supervision are conducted following with the rampant of KDRT cases lately. Such as a husband who recklessly killed his children and wife or a brother who killed her sister.

Kusnaeny claimed purposely focusing the coordination and supervision in the flat. As majority the occupants are from medium-low class who are impacted on the demolishment of riverbank, reservoir or other illegal buildings. They are also considered having complex social problems thus can trigger the violence.

"They are relocated citizens of demolishment. We want to know how they love their kids, appreciate women and the social environment. Living in the flat is like social, tolerance should be higher than in their own house. Therefore it needs to be socialized what is the violence against women and children," she explained.

According to her, the program will be attended by each representative of block and other community elements, such as RT, RW, urban village, sub-district, PKK heads, PAUD teachers, until integrated health services posts (Posyandu).
