Welcoming Rainy Season, 17 Rivers in East Jakarta Dredged

East Jakarta Mayor Bambang Musyawardana visited the water channel normalization project on Jalan Bangunan Timur, Kayu Putih and Gunung Antang Jalan Matraman. It was aimed to make sure the preparation ahead of rainy season. The mayor also visited water pump station on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan.

The project must be done before the rainy season

Bambang targeted to clean and normalize 17 rivers in East Jakarta before the rainy season comes. "The project must be done before the rainy season," he said, Thursday (8/13).

In order to realize the target, Ahmad Yazied Bustomi, East Jakarta Head Sub-dept. of Public Works deployed 200 workers to work in two shifts. About 20 workers are deployed for each location.

Sepak River Normalization Continued

"Actually, we need eight heavy equipments, but the provincial government only gave us five. We have done the auction for the heavy equipment," he added.

Next year, the agency will focus on reservoir maintenance in East Jakarta.

"I ask to heads of urban village and sub-district working together in maintaining the water channel, river, and reservoir cleanliness. We also need citizens' awareness regarding this matter," he disclosed.
