Betawi Culture Preservation Bylaw Legitimated

Jakarta Legislative Council legitimized local regulation of Betawi Culture preservation. Such regulation is consisting 10 chapters and 49 articles. It carried out on the Legislative Council (DPRD)'s Plenary Session (Paripurna), Tuesday (8/18).

Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok” T. Purnama acknowledged this regulation lets all people to preserve the culture.

“I am so proud and appreciated it, we can appreciate the betawi culture legally. We host our own culture at our home,” he said after Legislative Council's Plenary Session.

LKB Wants Betawi Culture Used as Main Element of City Tourism

He hoped, Jakarta could be tourist destination site both local and foreign. As well as Jakartans can appreciate local wisdom.

“The suggestion from council member will be made as reference in implementing local regulation. At once, the council could monitor and give suggestion if there any violation,” he disclosed.
