64 Households of Kampung Pulo Already Occupied Jatinegara Barat Flat

Principally, we will take relocation offer first

Dozens of households from Kampung Pulo, Kampung Melayu, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, agreed to be relocated. Yet, for building matters, residents are still demanding compensation from the city administration through the courts.

In overall, there are 64 households with more than 180 people in RW 01, Kampung Melayu, which affected the normalization of Ciliwung River. Currently, almost residents had relocated to Block A and B of Jatinegara Barat Flat.

Chairman of RW 01, Kampung Melayu, Muhammad Haris said all residents agreed to be relocated by reason of far access and flood each year.

Although the residents agreed to be relocated, yet it does not mean they do not take legal action demanding compensation.

"Principally, we will take relocation offer first. If the court approves it, Jakarta Provincial Government will pay off compensation," he explained.

Meanwhile, one of residents at RT 12/01, Kampung Melayu, Wina (23) admitted that she was happy her mother, Neni (50), got one unit on the 4th floor of block B.

"It's been a week my mom, brother and sister staying here. This flat is better and healthier,” she disclosed.
