Kadis Tata Air Yakin Normalisasi Ciliwung Makin Cepat Pasca Warga Direlokasi

A Sheet Pile will Be Built in Kampung Pulo

In aftermath of the demolishment towards buildings in Kampung Pulo, East Jakarta, the Ciliwung River's water will flow faster.

It aims to anticipate overflowing river and smoothen water flow

"We believe the water could flow faster because buildings had been demolished," told Head of Jakarta Water Management Department, Tri Djoko Sri Margianto, at City Hall, Monday (8/24).

City will Build Flat in Kampung Pulo

Margianto continued, the Ciliwung-Cisadane Flood Control Office (BBWSCC) is going to widen and build a sheet pile on such river towards Kampung Pulo, as well as a waterway to reduce water volume from East Flood Canal (KBT).

"It aims to anticipate overflowing river and smoothen water flow," he uttered.

However, he cannot predict the percentage of flood reduction in Jakarta after relocation in Kampung Pulo.

"It is not easy by the way, because we need a lot of parameters. Considering the river is not the same," he exclaimed.

Thus, he cannot analyze additional capacity of Ciliwung River.

"We can see in BBWSCC, because the design is from them. Now, they will install sheet pile at the point because there are some disconnected areas which need to be dredged," he disclosed.
