Old Transjakarta Buses will Be Reconditioned

The City Administration keeps adding Transjakarta bus units. As planned, as many as 509 new units are added to replace the old ones which have been unfeasible to operate.

If all of the new buses already come then the old ones will be reconditioned

Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama wants Transjakarta bus to operate for 24 hours. Then the old ones would be reconditioned to operate at night. "If all of the new buses already come then the old ones will be reconditioned," said Ahok, at City Hall, Friday (8/28).

Ahok purposely operates the old buses at night thus if they are broken or malfunctioned, traffic would not get disrupted. "The reconditioned bus operates at night, so the engine don't need to get hot. They only serve for touring around the city," he disclosed.

He targets, the distance between bus or headway reach 7 minutes at noon. As for night reach 30 minutes. "For some corridors, including corridor 1 (Blok M-Kota) now have been under 3 minutes," he explained.

He claimed, now he will only buy from local coach-work (karoseri). "Instead of purchasing the import ones, but they get broken after 1-2 years, we better be waiting yet not broken easily. If there is anyone who want to sell karoseri buses from Jakarta, we will buy them all for operating 24 hours and next year citizens would be free to ride," he exclaimed.

Currently, there have been 7 corridors operating at night. Those corridors are corridor 1 (Blok M-Kota), corridor 3 (Harmoni-Kalideres), and corridor 9 (Pinang Ranti-Pluit), corridor 2 (Pulo Gadung-Harmoni), corridor 5 (Ancol-Kampung Melayu), corridor 8 (Lebak Bulus-Harmoni), and corridor X (Cililitan-Tanjung Priok).
