East Jakarta Sub-dept. of City Parks and Cemeteries tries to use hydrogel for plants along the green lane. The effort is aimed to prevent the plants getting dry during dry season.

Mimi Rahmiati, head of the department, said hydrogel is a polymer powder which able to absorb and keep the water and nutrition in huge amount. Using the hydrogel also means decreasing the watering time.

"As the trial, we use it in one point," she said, Tuesday (9/2).

The trial was done in green lane on Jalan Dr Soemarno, Cakung, East Jakarta. Mostly the plants there were  dry due to dry season.

"Hydrogel endurance is 5 days. It is hoped help us much," she added.

Her side also pouring enzimex, or plants nutrition to keep it grows constantly.
