East Jakarta Accelerated Planting Project in KBT

East Jakarta Sub-dept. of Maritime, Agriculture and Food Tenacity (KPKP) accelerate the planting of vegetables on East Flood Canal (KBT)'s wet section. The section is at three sub-districts namely Jatinegara, Duren Sawit, and Cakung.
Mayor' s promised to arrange the KBT
Bayu Sari Hastuti, East Jakarta Head Sub-dept. of KPKP, said the project purposes to gain the local resident's economic. The agency will plant several vegetables such as watercress, spinach, mustard, and bok choy (Chinese cabbage).
East Flood Canal Keeps Being Beautified
"Mayor's promised to arrange the KBT. From us is planting vegetables and empower local people. We involve Kontak Tani Nelayan Andalan (KTNA). They will recruit local people to assist us," Sari said.
Sari targets the project will be done in the next three months. "We have started since three weeks ago," Sari added.
Meanwhile, Iwan Indriyanto, East Jakarta Head Section of Agriculture and Forestry for KPKP Agency, explained the agricultural zone in KBT is divided into several zones. Zone one is worked by 10 farmers with different width of land.
"Zone one in RT 05/06 Cipinang Besar Selatan Urban Village, Jatinegara Sub-district is worked by 5 farmers, Zone two in RT 8/14, Cipinang Muara Urban Village, Jatinegara Sub-district is worked by two farmers. Zone three in RT 9/03 Pondok Bambu Urban Village, Duren Sawit Sub-district is worked by 5 people," Indriyanto explained.
The project has positive result in Cakung Sub-district. There are 37 people join in the projects in Pulo Gebang and Ujung Menteng Urban Village.
"Next is in Cakung Barat Urban Village," he disclosed.
