Jokowi Inaugurated First Boring of MRT Construction

President, Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated first boring rig operating of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) construction on Monday (9/21). The first boring began at the point of MRT project Pemuda Senayan statue toward Setiabudi by using Tunnel Boring Machine imported directly from Japan.

President Director of PT MRT Jakarta, Dono Boestami explained President on how the boring operated. On that occasion Jokowi named the boring rig with Antareja. In the puppet story Antareja is a tough son of Bima. Hopefully, the boring rig could work as tough as Antareja do.

“Mr. President named the machine Antareja,” he said at location project, Monday (9/21).

Boestami added, the Antareja boring rig is the first machine that operated from the total number of 4 machines.

“Boring rig has started to operate today. While the second boring machine is being assembled and soon to be operated,” he said.

Boring rig will be operated by CP 104 contractor, SOWJ Joint Venture that consists of Shimizu, Obayashi, Wijaya Karya and Jaya Konstruksi.

The rig diameter is 6.7 meter by 323 tons weight. The construction period will be carried out up to December 2016.
