Billboards in Jakarta will Be Replaced with LED Screen

Jakarta Provincial Government is about to remove billboard and replace with light emitting deode (LED) screen. It is aimed to beautify the city and increase the local revenue (PAD). At this time, the gubernatorial regulation as the legal protection is being drafted.

Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama stated eventually, all ads in Jakarta will use LED. So, all billboards would be dismantled gradually.

"All ads in Jakarta will use LED, billboards are only outside of the city," he told, after the socialization of Gubernatorial Regulation Draft about the Installation of Billboards 2015, at City Hall, Friday (9/25).

He disclosed, there are many unfeasible billboards in Jakarta. But, the owners do not want to fix or dismantle them. It could harm citizens, especially in rainy season.

He claimed, the policy does imitate other cities in other countries. The use of LED is considered could beautify city. "Buildings in foreign countries, install LED screen. Why Jakarta is not? It will make Jakarta equal with other countries," he expressed.

According to him, if the tax of one of billboards is expired, his party will recommend it to be dismantled. "We dismantle it once the tax is expired," he asserted.
